Worldcoin officially changes name
Worldcoin has officially changed its name to World Network as the project's scope and scale continue to grow.
World Chain, Worldcoin, and World ID—a network of verified humans created to guarantee an optimistic future where humans continue to be at the center of AI development—are the three main pillars upon which the World Network currently rests.
World unveiled Next-Generation Orb
The latest Orb, a ground-breaking new device that improves the effectiveness and scalability of World ID verifications, was unveiled by World. The new Orb, which is powered by the most recent NVIDIA Jetson chipset, provides almost five times the AI performance of its predecessor.
The new Orb speeds up the global rollout of proof of human verifications by facilitating the creation of more adaptable verification models, such as on-demand Orbs, flagship locations, and self-serve kiosks.
Launch of World ID 3.0
New features like World ID Credentials, which enable users to store and access data from their NFC-enabled passports on their devices, are introduced with the release of World ID 3.0.
Furthermore, advanced multiparty computation (AMPC) and World ID Deep Face, a new tool designed to strengthen security in digital interactions and combat online fraud, provide stronger privacy protections in World ID 3.0.
World App 3.0 is now available
World announced the launch of World App 3.0, a revamped platform designed to scale with the World Network. With its support for Mini Apps, third-party apps can now seamlessly integrate with contacts, wallets, and World ID while preserving user privacy, the post added.
The updated World App offers users more security and functionality, as well as support for World ID credentials and enhanced wallet features like vault and World Pay (where available).
World Network unveils World Chain Mainnet launch
The project announced that World Chain has launched on the mainnet in addition to the rebrand. With more than 15 million World ID holders and World App users, World Chain is the first blockchain designed specifically to prioritize human activity and transactions. World Chain is the name of the project's Ethereum-secured Layer 2 blockchain network.
Leading blockchain services, including Uniswap, Safe, Dune, Etherscan, Alchemy, and Optimism, will support the World chain launch, ensuring a scalable and robust infrastructure for users globally.
About Worldcoin
In July 2023, Worldcoin launched World ID, a digital identity solution that helps users verify their identity and humanity both onchain and online. Individuals who provide biometric information (such as an iris scan through a metal orb) to verify their personhood are given both the cryptocurrency WLD and the online passport.
According to World Network, more than 10 million people have signed up in 160 different countries. Altman is a co-founder of Tools for Humanity, the project's lead developer. With more and more AI chatbots and assistants populating the internet, World Network is a project that aims to help distinguish humans from automated actors.
Sam Altman's WLD token falls 6% following Worldcoin rebrand
Following a major event in San Francisco earlier today where Worldcoin, co-founded by Sam Altman, formally rebranded its network to World, WLD token saw a sharp decline, falling by almost 6%. The market capitalization of WLD is $1.1 billion.
According to data from CoinMarketCap, WLD is currently worth $2.13, down 6.10% over the last day.
