Ripple co founder Chris Larsen and others endorse Harris for President in a Signed Letter
In a recent letter, 88 current and former top business executives from across America publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president, including Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple, the firm behind the XRP cryptocurrency, according to a report by CNBC on Friday, September 6.
The signed letter included the names of other notable signatories, such as former 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch, Snap chairman Michael Lynton, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, and co-founder and CEO of enterprise cloud company Box, Aaron Levie.
Several signatories seem to be endorsing Harris in public for the first time since she emerged as the apparent Democratic nominee in July. They include Chris Larsen and James Murdoch, the heir to the Murdoch family's media empire and former CEO of 21st Century Fox, the post added.
The signed endorsement letter is very short. The authors argue that electing Harris to the presidency is "the best way to support the continued strength, security, and reliability of America's economy and democracy."
Additionally, they argued that if Harris were elected president, she would help advance fair and easy-to-predict policies that support the rule of law, stability, and a very sound environment for businesses.
There are many other prominent crypto executives, such as Larsen, that have declared their support for a US presidential candidate.
The news comes shortly after Gene Sperling, a former member of the Ripple board, left the White House early in August in order to support Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign. David Plouffe, a former adviser to Alchemy Pay, a cryptocurrency payments company, and Binance, has also joined Harris' presidential campaign, Politico said on August 2.
Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign received a $1 million donation in June, according to an announcement on X by Jesse Powell, co-founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken. Furthermore, co-founders of the cryptocurrency trading platform Gemini, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, donated $1 million in bitcoin to support Trump's reelection campaign.
CEO of ARK Invest Cathie Wood, who has a strong long-term bullish view on Bitcoin, openly endorsed Trump in the June election and declared her intention to cast her vote for "who's going to do the best job for the country's economy."
Many experts have predicted that the outcome of the US presidential election, which is scheduled for November, will have a major impact on the cryptocurrency market. As more voices advocate for Kamala Harris, the political landscape in the crypto space seems more divided.
