Donald Trump to accept Crypto Donations for 2024 Presidential Campaign

Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States and Republican candidate for the upcoming U.S. presidential election in November 2024 said today that he will make sure cryptocurrency can be used for campaign donations.

Frank Degods, a creator and influencer of non-fungible tokens (NFT), shared several video clips to X in which Donald Trump, a Republican running for president in 2024 announced at a gathering where supporters who had purchased his "Mugshot Edition" NFTs were present that he would take cryptocurrency donations for his campaign.

Trump said in the video “If you can’t, I’ll make sure you can,” Trump said. “Can we donate to the Trump campaign using crypto? I believe the answer is yes.”

Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, used the occasion to restate his support for the industry.

According to him, President Joe Biden, on the other hand, knows very little about the cryptocurrency space.

He added  “If you like crypto in any form, and it comes in a lot of different forms, if you are in favor of crypto, you better vote for Trump,”

In one of the videos responding to a question from a fan at the gathering, as he was joking about Biden's lack of interest in cryptocurrency, Trump mentioned at random a memecoin named after the US president. After learning that the token known as Jeo Boden (BODEN) had already amassed a market capitalization of $240 million, he informed his supporters that he didn't like it.

According to CoinMarketCap data, the token's value increased by 18.5% in the last 24 hours as a result of Trump's comments.

In reference to potential regulatory conflicts that could force cryptocurrency businesses abroad, Trump stated that he wanted to keep them based in the United States.

That's not what we want," he said. We will halt cryptocurrency if it is being removed from the United States due to anti-crypto sentiment. Trump's remarks make clear that he wants to win over people in the cryptocurrency and digital finance communities.

On his day off from trial, Trump seems to have made the remarks at a dinner he hosted for purchasers of his "Mugshot Edition" NFTs. Axios reported, citing a copy of the dinner invitation, that those invited to the dinner individually bought more than 47 NFTs, each costing $99 in value.

Trump stated, “We did it when NFTs were not hot. We made NFTs hot again.”

Following the introduction of the Trump Digital Trading Cards non-fungible token (NFT) collection, Trump purchased his first cryptocurrency tokens towards the end of 2022. Through the use of Trump's name, image, and branding, 45,000 NFTs—each costing $99—were distributed as part of this project.

In addition to receiving a percentage of trading volumes on the secondary market, Trump received royalties from the original sale. In comparison to the larger NFT market, the project has been very successful, with the floor price currently exceeding $200.
