Vitalik Buterin sells over 1M dollars in memecoins for charity

Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, has converted an additional $1.6 million in memecoins that were sent to him into Ether, which he had previously stated would be donated to charitable organizations. 

Blockchain analytics company Spot On Chain reported in an X post on October 13 that the sale included $982,800 worth of Moo Deng (MOODENG), $183,000 worth of ETHEREUM IS GOOD (EBULL), and $231,000 worth of Monsterra (MSTR).

I appreciate all the memecoins that donate portions of their supply directly to charity.

Additionally, Buterin sold off holdings of Vitalek Buteren (VITALIK), Fwog (FWOG), and Popcat (POPCAT). 

Vitalik Buterin meme coin sales now $2.78 million

Over the past nine days, Buterin has donated $884,000 to charities and converted $2.78 million worth of memecoins into Ether, according to Spot On Chain on October 13. 

Buterin donates 10 billion memecoin tokens received 

The largest MOODENG token sales were 10 billion, and 395.96 ETH ($976,000) was made from the single sale. Additionally, Buterin sold 15 million Popcat for 27.11 ETH ($67,000), 200k MSTR for 93.23 ETH ($231,000), and 500 million EBULL for 73.79 ETH ($182,000).

While praising memecoin issuers for sending him coins for donations, Buterin suggested that they consider making direct donations instead.  He promised to donate all 10 billion memecoin tokens he received to an organization developing technology to combat airborne diseases in an X post on October 7. 

Buterin's $700 million crypto portfolio

According to data from Spot On Chain, his $700 million cryptocurrency portfolio still includes $2.4 million in MOODENG tokens, $117,000 in MSTR, $144,000 in Neiro (NEIRO), and $80,000 in Degen (DEGEN).

The co-founder of Ethereum has long supported the use of cryptocurrencies for charitable purposes. Buterin has long maintained that memecoins can benefit society by providing funding for significant public initiatives or even enabling individuals from low-income nations to make a living.
