Telegram to launch Mini App Store with built in Web3 Browser by end of July
Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram announced that the popular messaging platform plans to launch a mini-app store, along with an in-app web3 browser, by the end of July.
According to information shared by Telegram founder Pavel Durov on his Telegram channel, this move will improve Telegram's blockchain-related features. Durov explained that "2024 will be remembered as the year that hundreds of millions of people first learned about blockchain technology. We're honored that Telegram is at the epicenter of this transformation."
Durov also disclosed steps to mitigate scams on the platform. Similar to Instagram's approach, Telegram will bolster its defenses against cryptocurrency scams by making public accounts' registration month and primary country visible.
The tech entrepreneur and CEO of Telegram added that organizations will be able to create a decentralized marketplace for third-party verification by using mini-apps to issue verification labels for channels.
Tens of millions of players have used Telegram as a gateway to play tap-to-earn games like Yescoin, Notcoin, and Hamster Kombat, demonstrating the growing influence of both the messaging app and the Open Network (TON) blockchain in the cryptocurrency space in recent months. The TON blockchain is used by all of these clicker games, which provide users with the chance to win cryptocurrency. During the game's token generation event, the Notcoin game alone assisted the TON network in onboarding over 1 million wallets.
According to Durov, in just 81 days, 239 million users were added to Hamster Kombat, proving that blockchain games have the potential to increase player profits.
Telegram Mini Apps are small applications that are part of the popular messaging platform that let users engage with different services without ever leaving the app. The Telegram messaging app is used by about 900 million people worldwide, most of whom are workers or investors in crypto.
