According to a press release, Up Mobile is the first Web3 smartphone that combines the benefits of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The blockchain technology that powers the network will be provided by Movement Labs, a team dedicated to the adoption of the Move programming language.
Over 10,000 people are currently on Up Mobile's waitlist, and by the end of 2024, the company hopes to distribute over 100,000 units, the press release stated.
Co-founder Roy Liu, who led the effort to incorporate TRON into Samsung smartphones in 2019, is in charge of UP Network. A group of people with extensive knowledge of web2 and web3 technologies supports Liu.
All Web3 users use smartphones made by Apple or Google, but because of the unfriendly terms on Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store, the majority of Web3 apps are either disabled or prohibited, Liu added.
According to Liu, "We need a smartphone that provides a Web3 first user experience as well as an ecosystem that fosters innovation and distribution."
"2024 will finally see a greater level of public preparedness, and we have all the required resources and acceptance. Our strategic alliance with Movement Labs is poised to transform this space, opening up Web3 to all and ushering in a new era of consumer web3 revolution."
Artificial intelligence is heavily incorporated into the design of the device. In order to ensure that each user can only register once, facial recognition and fingerprint data are processed by AI algorithms to create unique digital identifiers, the post added. That being said, identity is established through "zero-knowledge proof" technology without disclosing any biometric information.
Furthermore, the operating system integrates local large language models (LLMs) to support daily tasks like grocery shopping and reservations for meals, according to the post.
"Movement Labs' groundbreaking potential is exemplified by Up Network's innovative approach to user engagement and rewards," stated Rushi Manche, co-founder of the company. "Having used the Up Mobile device personally, I can state with confidence that it not only outperforms everything in the Web3 market but also rivals, if not outperforms, popular mainstream brands in terms of quality.
This partnership with Up Network is a perfect example of how our technology can enable truly revolutionary projects in the mobile blockchain space," Manche added.
