Jump Crypto President Kanav Kariya Steps Down

The president of the venture firm Jump Crypto, Kanav Kariya, has announced that he is leaving after three years in his role at the firm. This news was made just four days after Fortune reported that the US Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) had opened an investigation into the company's cryptocurrency activities.

On the social media site X, he made the announcement of his departure and stated that June 24 was his last day working at Jump.

He wrote in the post explaining his departure, “For me, today is the last day of an amazing personal journey. Today marks my last day at Jump, and I'm excited about the journey ahead of me, even though I also have a heavy heart. I'm leaving with a ton of amazing relationships as well as special, invaluable, and life-changing experiences. I find it hard to put into words how much I appreciate all of the support that Jump's leadership, my team, and our partners have given us over the years. I'm grateful. I have no doubt that Jump Crypto will continue to do excellent work in the industry.”

The outgoing president outlined his next move after leaving the company. Kariya wrote, “Regarding the future, I intend to continue being involved with the portfolio companies that I have been most involved with and, ideally, take some time to reflect on the incredibly eventful past few years. It's also a much-needed chance for me to catch up on reading and relationships that I had neglected. If not, I'm going to try to wait patiently for a profound inspiration to strike before frantically committing to the next endeavor.”

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped me along the way. The generosity and encouragement I've encountered along the way have truly amazed me, he concluded.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kariya was a quantitative researcher and Jump Crypto's Director of Strategic Initiatives for Digital Assets prior to taking on the role of president in 2021.

At the age of 25, Kanav Kariya rose from intern to head of cryptocurrency at Chicago-based trading giant Jump Trading. The departure of the head of Jump Trading’s crypto unit comes after a challenging two years during which Jump and Kariya were at the center of one of the biggest collapses in cryptocurrency.
