Canadian Police have finally found and identified 25-year-old cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi's body, despite the fact that his death had been suspected to have happened since at least August of this year.

According to local media reports, Canadian law enforcement claimed that a body discovered in a park in Montreal belonged to Mirshahi. It was reported that a passerby found the crypto influencer's body on October 30 in the Île-de-la-Visitation park in Montreal.
Mirshahi Kidnap
According to The Montreal Gazette, Mirshahi was kidnapped in late June along with three other people from a condo building in Old Montreal. The following day, the others had come back safely, but Mirshahi was still missing.
The Montreal police learned of the kidnapping after receiving a 911 call about a fight near de la Commune and St-Hubert Sts. on June 21, at approximately 4 a.m. After several hours, the three other abductors were found, but Mirshahi was not found right away, and the Montreal police eventually turned the case over to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Canadian Police arrest suspect linked to Mirshahi kidnap
A 32-year-old woman was arrested by the Canadian police in August on suspicion of being involved in both the kidnappings and death of Mirshahi. The woman, who lives in Les Cèdres, was detained "in connection with the kidnapping and forcible confinement of four people, which occurred on June 21," according to a statement from the Sûreté du Québec.
The victims were abducted from a Montreal apartment complex located on de la Commune St. Among other things, the suspect is charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder of Kevin Mirshahi.
After an autopsy verified the body's identity as Kevin Mirshahi, SQ said on Tuesday that the investigation is still ongoing.
About Kevin Mirshahi
Mirshahi owned Crypto Paradise Island, an investment company, before his death. In 2021, an investigation into the company was conducted by the Autorité des marchés financiers, Quebec's investment regulator.
According to The Montreal Gazette, on July 4, 2024, the regulator ordered Mirshahi, his company, and two associated individuals to take down their social media posts and prohibited them from engaging in securities transactions or acting as brokers or investment advisers.
Growing trend of kidnapping in the cryptocurrency industry
The incident involving Mirshahi adds to a concerning trend of kidnapping of crypto influencers, which majorly have the goal of stealing huge sums of funds from the victim.
According to reports, Dean Skurka, the CEO of WonderFi, a Canadian company, was kidnapped last week and had to pay a $1 million ransom to be freed. In August, six Malaysians were also accused of kidnapping a Chinese national and extorting $1 million USDT in ransom.
Four suspects were arrested earlier this year in July on suspicion of kidnapping and killing a 29-year-old foreign national Bitcoiner in Kyiv, Ukraine, and stealing over 3 BTC worth approximately $270,000 as of the time of writing.
